Jacksonville, AL – Today marked the inaugural swim meet for the newly established swim team at Jacksonville State University. The Jax State Swim Club, situated within the Sport Clubs program at the JSU Rec Center, successfully organized its first-ever swim meet on February 24th at 9 a.m. at the Anniston Aquatic and Fitness Center. The event wass free of charge and the public was welcomed to attend.
Perry Luzier, the founding president of the club, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone, stating, “This is a significant achievement for our club, and I am optimistic that it will be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.”
A total of 43 swimmers from six universities, including the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, University of North Alabama, Tennessee Technical University, and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, competed. Among them, Jax State had a roster of ten athletes participating.
Students interested in joining the swim club are encouraged to attend practices held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the Rec Center.
