Calhoun County, AL – Shirley Millwood’s campaign to be Calhoun County’s next Probate Judge received two key endorsements leading up to the April 16 Republican primary. Mickey Turner, CEO of Highland Health Systems, and Brent Cobb, a mental health nurse practitioner, both offered their public endorsements to Millwood.
Among the duties of the Office of Probate Judge is the responsibility of presiding over hearings related to mental health including involuntary commitments, guardianships and conservatorships. These duties require the Probate Judge to interact frequently with mental health professionals.
“I’ve known Shirley for years,” Brent Cobb said. “She is a good, honest person that is well-respected and will do a good job.”
Mickey Turner explained his reasoning for endorsing Millwood by saying that “it’s very important that the Probate Judge be a lawyer who understands the law and can apply it to these cases.”
Shirley Millwood is one of two candidates whose names will appear on the ballot for Calhoun County Probate Judge on April 16. She is the only candidate that is a licensed attorney.
