Anniston, AL — City Urges Residents to Take Precautions as Cold Weather Approaches
With freezing temperatures forecasted for the end of this week, the City of Anniston is urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and warm. In response to the projected weather conditions, a public warming station will be opened in collaboration with the United Way of East Central Alabama, His Hands and Feet Ministries, and MeMe’s Heart, in partnership with the City of Anniston.
The warming station will open its doors at 5:00 PM CT on Friday, April 5, 2024, and will operate until 8:00 AM CT on Saturday, April 6, 2024. It will be located at The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church, situated at 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201.
Admission into the warming station will end each night at 9:00 PM CT. However, the City of Anniston has indicated that an extension of the station’s operating hours is possible should there be any changes in the weather forecast.
The initiative aims to provide a safe and warm environment for individuals who may be vulnerable to the cold weather conditions. Residents are encouraged to make use of the warming station if they are in need of shelter during the anticipated freezing temperatures.
