Washington D.C. –U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) is the top members of the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently joined Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) and six of her colleagues to introduce an agreement in accordance with the Congressional Review Act to strike the President Biden’s Circumvention of the Lawful Pathways rule.
The Biden Administration’s policy is said to be a strict stance against illegal immigration, however it’s actually rife by exceptions, and even funnels people into illegal parole programs are run by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have created without Congress and without their consent. The DHS has been allowed to permit additional migrants with insufficient or no asylum claims to come into the U.S.
“As the border crisis rages on as the border crisis continues to rage on, Biden Administration continues to implement Biden Administration has continued to unilaterally implement unsound policies that threaten our nation’s security and ignore the law of the land,” said Senator Britt. “President Biden’s Circumvention of the Lawful Pathways rule is an obvious attempt to classify illegal immigration as legal immigration, so that the numbers that are unprecedented on the borders appear more impressive on paper than they actually are in fact. In the last month, border encounters at the border increased by 30 percent. The Administration has no intention of ending the crisis, since they are removing 1100 active duty soldiers from the border as the number of daily border crossings continues to increase in a steady manner. This is only the latest of a long list of unjust and dangerous policies that permit international criminal groups like cartels to traffic dangerous drugs into our schools, communities and even our homes. It’s about time to call on the Administration to enact a policy of security at the border and not allow more people enter our nation’s interior with different terms .”
“The Biden administration’s rule is a flims attempt to resolve the border crisis. It has many loopholes cartels are able to use to continue bringing illegal immigrants across America. United States and overwhelm our Border Patrol,” Senator Cornyn declared. “Rather to stop illegal migration and illegal migration, President Biden uses his rule in order to divert migrants into illegal parole programs. This resolution will put a stop to the ruse game to conceal the massive amount that is illegally emigrating. .”
Senators Britt and Cornyn accompanied on the motion by senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo. ), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Steve Daines (R-Mont. ) as well as Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss. ).
Background:
This Biden Administration’s Circumvention of Lawful Pathways rules came into effect at the exact time as the Central Disease Control and Prevention’s Title 42 public health order expires on May 11, 2023. This rule entitles immigrants to either of these three “lawful” paths, including:
- The administration’s plan to grant parole to to 3000 Venezuelans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Cubans each month, in addition to other parole programs that the administration recently established or expanded
- It is the administration’s “CBP One” mobile application, which migrants can set up appointments to visit the ports of entry to land in order to be admitted into the interior, and issued working authorizations;
- Inquiring for asylum at any location or time following having been denied asylum in a foreign country.
The three routes are an abuse of DHS Secretary’s parole authority which, as per our immigration law can only be utilized in a real-time, case-by-case manner. In addition, while the administration claims to be tough with immigrants who don’t take advantage of the three routes they have developed, the truth is that the law is filled with loopholes.
Illegal immigrants and transnational criminal groups who profit from these loopholes will quickly be able to take advantage of these loopholes and inundate our detention facilities when Border Patrol attempts to adjudicate whether the migrants fall under one of the many exceptions. This isn’t an attempt to solve the issue at the southern border and is not a way to stop migrants from illegally emigrating into the U.S.
Senator Britt has committed to border security and the security of American children families, communities, and children the top priority during her first few months in the office. She has introduced a comprehensive bill that includes four pieces of legislation and cosponsored 11 bills on the subject that include senators Marsha Blackburn’s (R-Tenn.)
