Washington D.C. –U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) is the top members of the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently joined Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) and six of her colleagues to introduce an agreement in accordance with the Congressional Review Act to strike off Biden’s Circumvention of the Lawful Pathways rule.
The Biden Administration’s policy is said to provide a firm stance on illegal immigration, but it’s actually rife with exceptions and entices immigrants into illegal parole programs are run by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has created without Congress and without their consent. The DHS has been allowed to permit immigrants who have weak or no asylum claims to come into the U.S.
“As the border crisis drags on and on, it is clear that the Biden Administration has continued to unilaterally impose unsound policies that threaten our national security and violate the law of the land,” said Senator Britt. “President Biden’s Circumvention of the Lawful Pathways rule is an obvious attempt to classify illegal immigration as legitimate immigration to make the staggering numbers at the border appear less dramatic on paper than in actual fact. In the last month, border incidents at the border jumped by 30 percent. The Administration has no intention of ending the crisis, since they are removing 1100 active duty soldiers from the border as the number of daily border crossings continues to increase gradually. This is only the latest of a long list of unjust and dangerous policies that permit international criminal groups like cartels to illicitly transport dangerous drugs into our schools, communities and homes. It’s high time to get the Administration to take action to secure the frontier, not allow more people in our country’s interior using different terms .”
“The Biden administration’s rule is an ineffective attempt to resolve the border issue and is brimming with loopholes cartels can easily use to continue bringing illegal immigrants to America. United States and overwhelm our Border Patrol,” Senator Cornyn stated. “Rather instead of stopping illegal migration and illegal migration, President Biden uses the rule of law to channel immigrants into illegal parole programs. This resolution will bring an end to the ruse game to conceal the massive amount that is illegally emigrating. .”
Senators Britt as well as Cornyn accompanied on this resolution were Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo. ), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Steve Daines (R-Mont. ) as well as Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss. ).
Background:
It is the Biden Administration’s Circumvention of Lawful Pathways rules came into effect just on as the Cdc’s Title 42 public health order expires on May 11, 2023. The rule funnels people into three “lawful” paths, including:
- The administration’s plan to grant parole up to 3000 Venezuelans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Cubans every month, in addition to other parole programs that the administration recently established or expanded
- Administration’s “CBP One” mobile application, which immigrants can schedule appointments to visit ports of entry on land and be admitted into the interior, and issued authorization to work;
- Inquiring for asylum at any location or at any time following having been refused asylum in a foreign country.
The three paths are a violation of DHS Secretary’s parole power, that, under our immigration law, can only be utilized in a real-time, case-by-case manner. Additionally, even though the administration claims to be tough on immigrants who don’t take advantage of the three routes it has crafted however, the law has many loopholes.
Illegal immigrants and criminal syndicates who profit from their illegal status will soon learn to make use of these loopholes, and take over our detention facilities when Border Patrol attempts to adjudicate whether immigrants fall within one of the many exceptions. This isn’t an attempt to solve the issue at the southern border, and will not stop immigrants from illegally emigrating to the U.S.
Senator Britt has been adamant about border security and security of American families, children, and communities a major focus throughout her first months in her new position.
