Advent by itself, refers to waiting for something to come such as “the Advent of Spring.” The first Sunday of Advent was December. 3.

When we were children, we felt the excitement of waiting to take presents off and a feeling of it being difficult to stand in line. As adults, the period of Advent prior to Christmas is an important reflection on Jesus birth and the events that took place in order the way for Him to come into the world.

If you read the Bible you’ll see that each of The Old Testament and New Testament predicted his arrival. In the book Isaiah of the Old Testament foretold of his birth, and took place between the years 700 and 700 BC.

There is also a version design of an Advent wreath. It is a place to put four candles, one white one pink, one blue, two purple as well as one of white. The blue symbolizes the hope of peace, purple is for hope and love, while pink is for love. blue to celebrate joy, and white at the center to celebrate Christ’s birth. Each week, light one candle and then on the week of Christ’s birth light the Christ’s candle.

St. Michael’s Anglican Church hopes you and your loved ones enjoy the spirit of Advent this time of year.
