Montgomery, AL – In a call to action, Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding citizens of Alabama that they have just one week left to register to vote before the 2024 Primary Election on March 5.
“As Secretary of State, I want to encourage all eligible Alabama citizens to register to vote and to exercise this constitutional right,” emphasized Secretary Allen. “Voter participation in safe, secure, and transparent elections is critical to the success of our state.”
To be eligible to participate in the March 5, 2024 Primary Election, eligible Alabama citizens must complete their voter registration by Monday, February 19, 2024. Electronic voter registration is available at https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/voter/register-to-vote.
For those opting for a physical voter registration form, the deadline to submit it to the county Board of Registrars is Friday, February 16, 2024. Mailed-in forms must be postmarked no later than Saturday, February 17, 2024.
To qualify for voting in Alabama, individuals must be U.S. citizens, reside in the state, and be at least 18 years old on or before election day. Additionally, eligibility requires no disqualifying felony conviction or being judged “mentally incompetent” by a court of law.
On election day, polls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm, and voters must present a valid form of photo identification at their polling place or when casting an absentee ballot.
