Oxford’s boys will join Oxford’s girls in the subregional round.

Jaylen Alexander scored 22 points, and the Yellow Jackets beat Gadsden City 62-55 in Saturday’s first-round game in the three-team, Class 6A, Area 13 tournament.

The victory since Oxford to Tuesday’s area final against top seed Fort Payne. Oxford also clinched a subregional berth.

Oxford’s girls punched their ticket with a victory over Fort Payne on Friday.

“I thought our team showed a lot of resilience,” Oxford coach Joel Van Meter said. “Fighting through adversity has been our deal the entire year, and we have embraced it.

“I thought, tonight, each guy contributed and did their job.”

Alexander hit three 3-pointers. Oxford’s other top performers:

—Jayden Lewis: 14 points.
—Caleb Sanders: 10 points (three 3-pointers).
—Jordan Kelley: eight points (two 3-pointers).

SPRING GARDEN 90, JCA 44: Noah Barber hit six 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 20 points, and Spring Garden advanced to Monday’s Class 1A, Area 12 championship game against Gaylesville.

Spring Garden also secured a subregional berth. The Panthers’ other top performers:

—John Welsh: 15 points (one 3-pointer).
—Chapel Pope: 14 points (four 3-pointers).
—Cole Bailey: 11 points (one 3-pointer).
—Jake Welsh: 11 points.

JCA’s top performers:

—Jesse Gannaway: 26 points (two 3-pointers).
—Noah Lee: 10 points (one 3-pointer).

Girls

ANNISTON 74, MUNFORD 11: Serena Hardy hit two 3-pointers while scoring 17 points to lead Anniston to the Class 4A, Area 8 final and a subregional berth.

The Bulldogs will play Handley on Tuesday at home.

All 14 Anniston players saw action Saturday, and 11 scored. Anniston’s other top performers:

—A’Kayla Perry: nine points (one 3-pointer).
—Jada Fomby: seven points.

HANDLEY 49, TALLADEGA 41: Takeira Tucker hit one 3-pointer en route to 19 points, and Handley advanced to Tuesday’s area final against host and top seed Anniston.

Both teams punched their tickets to the subregional round.

—Takeriauna Mosley: 14 points (one 3-pointer).
—Ana Tucker: eight points (two 3-pointers).

Talladega’s top performers:

—Trinity Webb: 17 points.

JACKSONVILLE 70, WHITE PLAINS 29: Jayci Taylor poured in 22 points to go with three steals and three rebounds, and Jacksonville advanced in the Class 4A, Area 10 tournament.

The No. 2 seeded Golden Eagles will play top seed Cherokee County in Tuesday’s championship game. Both teams advanced to the subregional round.

Along with Emerson Weaver and Neveah Nicholson, Taylor led a trio of eighth-graders who combined for 42 points. Jacksonville’s other top performers:

—Alexis Phillips: 16 points (four 3-pointers), three steals, two assists.
—Weaver: 11 points (one 3-pointer), six steals.
—Nicholson: nine points (three 3-pointers).

White Plains’ top performers:

—Addi Bradley: 12 points.
—Cooper Martin: five points.

SPRING GARDEN 88, JCA 19: Kristen Lewis hit four 3-pointers on the way to 16 points to lead Spring Garden, and the Panthers advanced to Monday’s Class 1A, Area 12 championship game against Cedar Bluff.
