Calhoun County, AL – In an effort to promote civic engagement and informed decision-making, the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce is organizing two candidate forums focusing on the upcoming elections for Calhoun County Probate Judge and Board of Education. These forums, which are open to the public with no registration required, seek to provide voters with an opportunity to understand the candidates and their respective platforms.

The Probate Judge Candidate Forum is scheduled to be held at the Oxford Civic Center in Rooms 116 -122 on Tuesday, February 27th, from 5:30 PM to 7 PM. Subsequently, the Calhoun County Board of Education Candidate Forum will take place at the Anniston City Meeting Center on Thursday, February 29th, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Acknowledging the significant number of qualified candidates participating in the Board of Education race and considering the limited timeframe, it’s important to note that the public will not be able to pose questions at these forums. Instead, each candidate will be provided with three minutes to address the audience and present their vision to the voters.

Jakob Williamson, Public Affairs Director, expressed the Chamber’s enthusiasm for hosting these forums, stating, “The Chamber is very excited to facilitate these forums for the community. We aim to assist voters in gaining more confidence in their decisions on Election Day.”

For those unable to attend in person, both forums will be live-streamed by the Calhoun Journal, ensuring that residents can access the discussions from the convenience of their homes.
