White Plains won in Blake Jennings’ debut as the Wildcats’ head baseball coach.
Ashton Wallace, Cooper Tinney, Braxton Curless, Aiden Kilgore, Braxxon Borrelli and Ian Douglas each had one of White Plains’ six hits. Kilgore drove in two runs. Wallace scored three runs, and Tinney and Borelli scored two apiece. Borelli’s hit was a double.
Tinney, Borrelli and Curless combined to allow four hits and two earned runs. Curless allowed no hits and no runs with three strikeouts over the final two innings.
“Just really happy for the boys,” Jennings said. “They’ve worked so hard up to this point. They love the game and love coming to practice. It makes it easy for us coaches when they bring the energy each day.
“Was proud to see them go down early tonight, face some adversity, and battle back to get the win.”
Softball
OHATCHEE 19, WELLBORN 6: At Wellborn, Ellie Carden and Alanah Fitch recorded three hits apiece to lead Ohatchee. Carden drove in two runs, and Fitch drove in two.
Breanna Martin and MacKenzie Luna each had two hits and three RBIs.
Martin and Savannah Reaves tripled, and Reaves drove in two runs. Fitch hit a double.
In the circle, Lexi Thomas and Jordyn Faulkner combined to allow seven hits and four earned runs. Faulkner struck out four batters.
Wellborn’s Cassidy Gray and Destiny Benefield each had two hits and an RBI. Gray scored three runs and Benefield two. Both of Gray’s hits were doubles.
Jordan Hunt had a single and two RBIs.
Soccer
JACKSONVILLE GIRLS 3, GLENCOE 3 — Jacksonville’s Emerson Weaver and Glencoe’s Kinlee Montgomery each scored two goals, and the Golden Eagles and Yellow Jackets battled to a 3-3 tie.
Lexi Page added one goal and an assist for Jacksonville. Sarah Sloughfy and Willa Kate Walker also recorded assists.
For Glencoe, Sarah Ponder had a goal, and goalie Chloe Thomas recorded double digit saves.
Glencoe won the boys’ match 3-0.
FAITH CHRISTIAN 3, MUNFORD 1: Jack Strautman, Cameron Rogers and Brooks Burnham each scored a goal.
DONOHO GIRLS 0, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 0: Rory Parks was Donoho’s player of the match for her work on the defensive end, and Donoho heads into its intercession break before playing Faith Christian.
DONOHO BOYS 1, WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 1: Bruce Downey scored Donoho’s goal on a Sam Johnson assist.
