Anniston, AL. – On Thursday morning at approximately 11:40 the Anniston Police Department was dispatched to the Wells Fargo on Quintard Ave. regarding an armed bank robbery. The suspect, later identified as, Robert Darrell Medley, 58, of Anniston, entered the bank wearing a baseball cap and a COVID style mask around his face. Medley brandished what was believed to be a handgun and demanded money. He then fled the bank and drove away.

As officers were enroute the 911 operators were rapidly relaying suspect information and vehicle description. One of the officers in the area located an unattended vehicle fitting the description at a nearby convenient store. Officers came to the area and initiated a surveillance on the vehicle to see who would return to it. After a few minutes a male fitting the description of the bank robber exited the store and walked towards the vehicle. Officers were able to rapidly approach Medley and take him into custody without incident. When Medley’s vehicle was searched a replica airsoft handgun was located inside.

Medley was transported to the Calhoun County Jail and booked in for charges of Robbery 1st/Firearm. He is currently being held without bail.

Chief Nick Bowles stated, “I am really proud of how quickly our officers were able to take this person into custody”.
