Washington D.C. –U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) this week joined her fellow senators in passing the FINISH IT Act which will require to the Biden administration’s Department of Defense (DoD) to let millions of dollars of unutilized border wall panels that are in the possession of government officials of the U.S. government to be utilized to build a wall across border U.S.-Mexico border.

The legislation was introduced by Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and was co-sponsored by Senators Britt, Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Tom Cotton (R-Ark. ).

The bill follows an investigation conducted by Republican Members from the Senate Committee on Armed Services which revealed that the DoD spends an annual total of $47 million which is equivalent to $130,000 a day to store the panels in various locations across the Southwest. Its FINISH IT Act will oblige the federal government use the materials, or to transfer the panels to state governments who are expected to use them for wall construction.

“The massive national security and humanitarian problem at our southern border – one in which even the Biden Administration is unable to acknowledge – continues to increase, taking over the courageous law enforcement personnel who are fighting to protect our nation,” said Senator Britt.”We have to secure our border and completing the wall is an integral part of this goal. This common sense legislation can aid in keeping American families secure and prevent the hard-earned money of taxpayers from going to waste – it’s an obvious win-win for all in addition to those cartels .”

“President Biden could not have caused a bigger border crisis had he tried, but he is determined to hinder the progress of a solution” Senator Wicker declared. “As Senate Republicans revealed earlier this year, Biden’s Administration is requiring to the Department of Defense to spend millions of dollars every year on border panels that remain unutilized even though they can be utilized to protect our borders. It’s time for President Obama to put these resources to use and to complete this Wall .”

The Finish IT Act adopted as an element of Fiscal year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act(NDAA).
