BOAZ — Donoho’s tennis program continues to excel well above its enrollment level.

Four Falcons won their courts, and Donoho’s girls finished second in the Class 4A-5A Section 6 tournament Thursday at Boaz. The top two teams qualify for the state tournament.

Donoho, a Class 1A school by enrollment, finished as Class 4A-5A runner up in 2023. The Falcons moved up by way of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s competitive balance rule for private schools.

The Falcons’ sectional champions were Blair Kitchen in No. 2 singles, Avery Barnett in No. 3 singles, Natalie Rodgers in No 4 singles and Elizabeth Downey in No. 5 singles.

In the boys’ Section 6 tournament, Donoho’s Rishi Reddy won the No. 2 singles court.

Soccer

DONOHO GIRLS 2, HOKES BLUFF 0: Erin Turley and Anna Kate Wallace scored a goal apiece, and Donoho won the Class 1A-3A, Area 6 title.

The Falcons will mark senior night Friday and play Fort Payne on Monday on Jacksonville State University’s field.

Donoho will also play host to a first-round playoff match.
